Erika Goldson, UNFPA Acting Country Representative, said young people had the potential to act as greater forces for positive social change and to build the foundation for a just and peaceful world.
She was speaking at an official commemorative event to celebrate the International Youth Day (IYD) in Ghana's capital, Accra.
It is a day dedicated to celebrating young people's contribution to development.
Goldson said the UNFPA remained committed to supporting efforts of governments and civil society to develop the youth who could help the continent move closer to its shared vision for a world free of conflict and violence.
She congratulated the Ghanaian government on its efforts and commitments towards ensuring that work in all sectors of society were responsive to needs of young people to enable them to contribute to nation building and a peaceful society.

MANILA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine total trade contracted by 1.2 percent in June after posting 10 months of positive growth, the government said on Thursday.
Despite the contraction Air Max 90 Leather On Sale , the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said total merchandise trade grew by 11.2 percent for the first half of 2017 from the previous year, with exports growing 13.6 percent and imports growing 9.6 percent.
